Stanton Windmill
​A ten-minute walk will take you to the Stanton post mill, dated from 1751, moved to its current location in 1818. It ceased operating in 1920, but was restored between 1939 and 1941. It is the only complete example of a post mill of the Norfolk type in existence. Unfortunately, it is not open to the public at the moment, but it is certainly an iconic Stanton landmark
Wyken Vineyards
Gardens, Country Store & Farmers Market
Wyken Vineyards is located in a 1,200-acre farm and is a short twelve-minute walk from Bromptons Farm. On site there is the Leaping Hare Restaurant, Best Restaurant in Suffolk in 2016 and 2020 (see the Pubs and Restaurants tab); a delightful country store with a wonderful selection of items for sale, including their award-winning wines; a sourdough pizza café; a magnificent Royal Horticultural Society Garden and a weekly (Saturday) farmer’s market, one of the top ten farmer’s markets in the country. There is a lot to see and experience. If the weather is being kind, you can even take a stroll to the vineyard!
Pakenham Watermill
​Pakenham watermill is a seven-minute drive from Bromptons Farm. It is the oldest surviving flour mill in Suffolk. Dedicated volunteers continue the tradition of producing stone-ground wholemeal flour for the local population. Several streams to the west of Pakenham merge and feed into the millpond; it is this water that provides the raw power to turn the iron waterwheel and drive the millstones. The watermill is open to visitors during the summer months. If you visit on a Thursday morning you will see the mill working and the flour being produced
Fullers Mill Garden
​A short twenty-two-minute drive will take you to Fullers Mill Garden. A beautiful seven-acre site on the banks of the River Lark. Set in woodland there is a stunning array of unusual shrubs, perennials and lilies. Fullers Mill Garden is open between April and October on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 17:00
